BackBar Pro is made by Backbar HQ LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have. We built BackBar Pro for independent hairstylists, and the short version is simple: your data is yours, we do not sell it, and we only use it to run the product.
Information you give us
Account information: your email address and a password (stored as a secure hash by our authentication provider). Optionally your name, business name, photo, phone number, and location if you add them to your profile.
Business records you create in the app: services, prices, working hours, appointments, payments you record, expenses, product inventory, revenue goals, and tax profile details you choose to enter (such as filing state and status, used only to calculate your estimates).
Client records you create about your clients: names, phone numbers, email addresses, birthdays, appointment history, color formulas, notes (including allergy or sensitivity notes you record), and photos you take or upload. You control these records and are responsible for collecting them with your clients’ knowledge.
Information from your booking page
If you enable your public booking page, clients who book with you submit their name, phone number, and email address, plus answers to any booking questions you configure. That information goes directly into your client list and is visible only to you.
Payments
Card payments and subscriptions are processed by Stripe. Card numbers go directly to Stripe and never touch our servers; we store only records such as amounts, dates, and payment status. Stripe’s handling of payment data is described in their privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.
How we use information
To provide the product: storing and syncing your records, showing your dashboard and reports, generating your booking page, processing payments, and sending appointment or account related messages.
We do not sell your data or your clients’ data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not train AI models on your data.
Text messages (SMS)
If a stylist turns on text reminders, we send appointment reminders by SMS to clients whose phone number the stylist has on file with the client’s consent. These messages are transactional only: roughly one message per booked appointment, sent about 24 hours ahead. We do not send marketing or promotional texts.
Reply STOP to any message to opt out, or HELP for help. Opt-outs are honored immediately and recorded so no further messages are sent to that number. Message and data rates may apply.
No mobile information is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent are never shared with any third party. Phone numbers are shared only with our messaging provider, solely to deliver these messages.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run BackBar Pro: Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage), Stripe (payments and subscription billing), Twilio (text message delivery), Resend (email delivery), and font/content delivery services for the web version. These providers process data only on our behalf.
We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
Photos, camera, and permissions
The app asks for camera and photo library access only when you attach photos (for example, before-and-after photos or a client profile picture). Photos are stored privately, scoped to your account, and served through short-lived signed links.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Every record in our database is protected by row-level security so that one stylist’s account can never read another’s data. On your phone, sign-in tokens are kept in the device’s secure storage.
Retention and deletion
We keep your data for as long as you have an account. You can delete your account at any time from Setup > Account > Delete Account, which permanently deletes your account, your client records, and your uploaded photos. You can also email us to request deletion.
Your clients’ rights
You are the owner of the client records you keep in BackBar Pro. If one of your clients asks you to correct or delete their information, you can do that in the app. If a client contacts us directly, we will refer them to you and assist you in honoring the request.
Children
BackBar Pro is a business tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes we will update the date at the top of this page and notify you in the app before the changes take effect.
